Preparing a Room for an Infrared Sauna

Preparing a Room for an Infrared Sauna

Before Your Sauna Arrives

Choosing your sauna is only part of the process. Before ordering, it’s worth looking carefully at the space itself and how the sauna will reach its final position.

A little planning upfront can make choosing the right cabin much simpler.

Start With the Sauna Dimensions

Check the full external dimensions of the sauna rather than judging the space from photographs alone.

Remember that the cabin itself isn't the only consideration. You also need enough surrounding room for comfortable access, opening the door and following any clearance requirements stated for your particular model.

Measure the Route In

A room can comfortably accommodate a sauna while the route to it cannot.

Measure doorways, corridors, staircases and tight turns between the delivery point and intended installation area. Pay particular attention to older properties or upstairs rooms where access may be more restricted.

Choose a Suitable Surface

Your sauna should be installed on a stable, level surface suitable for the completed cabin.

Consider the flooring and surrounding environment as well as the available footprint. Always follow the placement requirements supplied with the individual sauna.

Check the Electrical Requirements

Electrical requirements vary between sauna models.

Review the technical specification for the sauna you're considering and make sure the intended location has access to the appropriate electrical supply. Where necessary, seek advice from a qualified electrician before installation.

Think About How You'll Use the Space

Finally, consider the room beyond simply fitting the sauna into it.

Allow comfortable access around the cabin and think about where you'll place towels, robes or seating. A well-planned setup should feel like part of the room rather than equipment squeezed into the only available gap.

Before ordering, always check the individual product dimensions, installation guidance and electrical requirements.
